Lost & Found: Life In Layers
Our lives are lived in layers. As you prepare for the workshop, spend some time reflecting on a “layer” of your life that you might like to commemorate, reflect on, or simply capture through you art. This particular layer might be an important day, or encapsulate a season of weeks or months, or even years—zoom way out on your story, or zoom in to focus on the minute details of a particular memory (layer).
Before the workshop, gather any personal photographs or memorabilia (dried rose petals from that special date, the wrapper from that pretty soap you were gifted, the ribbon she wore in her hair, the key from your first house, your grandmother’s handkerchief…) Have these momentos on hand for when we meet to work on our piece.
Supply List:
Vintage Ephemera (this will be snail-mailed to you before the workshop)
Any additional personal artifacts you’d like to work with
Glue stick, or liquid glue such as Mod Podge
Scissors
Tissue paper (or brown bag paper, carboard, newsprint, teabags, etc)
Canvas (this can be an actual canvas or any other surface you’d like to create on, including cardboard, old book cover, mixed media paper, your art journal, etc. Make sure it’s weighty enough to stand up to layers of paper, glue, etc)
Washi Tape/tape
Parchment Paper or Tea Bag Paper
