We believe
We believe
We believe in God Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. We believe that all human beings are made by Him and for Him, created in His image. (Genesis 1:27, Isiah 43:7-8).
We believe in Jesus, the Christ, the only Son of God, who being born of a virgin, holy and blameless, willingly endured a criminals death on the cross for the sake of the whole world. Being raised from the dead, Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father, Almighty God, and that He will come again to raise us with Him on the last day. (Luke 1:26-38, Colossians 1:17, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Isiah 53:3-8, John 2:1-10).
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the helper, protector and defender of our faith. We believe that the Holy Spirit lives in us, producing in and through us, visible fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. We believe the Holy Spirit is our intercessor, strengthening us, emboldening us, and enabling us to live according to God's commandments. (Romans 8:26-27, Galatians 5:22-23, John 16:13).
We believe in the power and purpose of the cross for the forgiveness of the sins of all people and for our salvation. We believe that salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5-7).
We believe in the infallibility of God's inspired and Holy Word. We believe in the authority of God's Word, spoken through the prophets, given to us for instruction, encouragement and admonishment, that we would be both hearers and doers of the word, abiding in God's Truth for the sake of Christ and the glory of God everlasting. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Our statement of faith is summarized in the words of the Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.
Who, for us men for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father [and the Son]; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.
And I believe one holy Christian and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
