Draw Near is a creative practice for discovering and recovering your journey towards God.
This 8-week cohort pairs traditional journaling practices with the intuitive, embodied practice of Art journaling. Each week, we’ll respond to a visual prompt and join in discussion with other women committed to paying attention to their life with God.
The emphasis of Draw Near is the practice of noticing—learning to see events, relationships, patterns and losses in your life as the very places where God is at work. Your Art Journal invites you to slow down, to use color and texture and layers to transcribe and reflect, becoming a tangible rememberance you can hold.
You do not need to be an experienced artist to join us. This is a practice. It’s not about performance, it’s about bearing witness to your life with God.
How it works:
Each week you’ll receive an email with a reflection guide and a visual prompt.
We will meet once a week for 8 weeks via Zoom (90 minutes each week)
Zoom meetings will include a brief teaching, studio work time and group sharing.
Zoom meetings will be hosted LIVE (Recordings will be made privately available exclusively to cohort members).
Meeting dates/Times:
October 6, 13, 20, 27 at 1PM Eastern
November 3, 9, 17 1PM Eastern
December 1 1PM Eastern
Because this is a cohort, live participation is an important component. The Zoom meetings are where we will connect in real time and have the opportunity to listen to, and learn from one another.
This workshop was inspired by and adapted from Richard Peace’s book Spiritual Journaling: Recording Your Journey Towards God. You do not need to purchase this book in order to participate.
Enrollment in the cohort is nonrefundable.
