Move from feeling like a faker, to embracing your unique calling as a maker….

Have you ever had a dream project in mind, but felt paralyzed by the idea of bringing it to life? Have you ever felt stuck working on a project, and been unable to finish it and release it into the world? Have you been struggling with a dream to do/make/share something, and felt like— even after all of that work—you’re not sure you can bring yourself to put it out there?

Do these thoughts sound familiar:

  • There’s nothing new under the sun…someone has already made/written about/created/offered________________, so why should I bother?

  • So-and-so has more experience/followers/finances/expertise/know-how/credentials, than I do, and I can’t compare to that…

  • I’ve never done anything like this before, I don’t have what it takes.

  • Who am I to think I can do/share/make _______________?

If any of these thoughts have rattled around in your head and heart, then you have experienced Imposter Syndrome. Imposter Syndrome isolates us, sapping our confidence and joy in our work. While anyone can struggle with feeling like a phony, Imposter Syndrome afflicts those working in the creative arts in unique ways—sometimes to the point of paralyzation.

When that voice gets loud in our heads, we struggle to keep creating, and sometimes, we stop working completely. When we stop working, Imposter Syndrome wins.

But what if I told you there is another way to navigate these feelings? What if I told you that you can actually make feeling like a fraud work for you as you create?

Feeling like an imposter has kept you from the work long enough.

You can overcome Imposter Syndrome.

One of the great sorrows which came to humans beings when Adam and Eve left the garden was the loss of memory, memory of all that God’s children are meant to be.

Your “Overcoming Imposter Syndrome” Mentor

Author, founder and director of Refine {the retreat}, online membership community host, avid art-journaler, maker, speaker, part-time chef, part-time writing coach, recovered plant-killer, beauty advocate, mug-enthusiast, car radio sing-alonger, passionate about seeing people LIVE into their gifting.

Like most freelancers, I wear a lot of hats all at once. And I know how wearing a lot of hats, and being a “jack of all trades” can make a person feel like an imposter in their own actual life. My own battle against feeling like a faker fuels my passion to share what years of wrestling has taught me—namely, that overcoming Imposter Syndrome is not only possible, but that it is the critical work every dreamer must do.

Every time another maker creates something beautiful and puts it into the world, it is a bold act of resistance against the enemy of our souls. We are created to create, and I’m right here beside you, cheering you on, facing down imposter syndrome one project at a time.

The world needs what you’ve got to offer.
